About Kapama Private Game Reserve

Kapama Private Game Reserve spans approximately 13,000 hectares near Hoedspruit in Limpopo Province, South Africa. It lies adjacent to the renowned Kruger National Park and serves as a protected sanctuary for a wide range of African wildlife. The reserve is situated within the Lowveld biome, featuring a mixture of open savanna, woodlands, and riverine habitats that support an abundance of flora and fauna. Kapama's ecosystem sustains the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo—alongside many other species including cheetah, hyena, giraffe, zebra, and over 400 bird species. Established in the late 1990s, Kapama combines conservation with luxury tourism, offering guided game drives, walking safaris, and photographic safaris to guests. The reserve works actively to protect endangered species, particularly white and black rhinoceroses, and to rehabilitate landscapes impacted by poaching and human activity. Visitors enjoy a blend of thrilling wildlife encounters and comfort, with several exclusive lodges and camps providing world-class amenities. The reserve’s location allows for easy access to the Kruger Park while offering a more intimate and less crowded safari experience. Kapama's dedication to sustainable tourism and conservation makes it a significant contributor to regional biodiversity preservation and community upliftment through employment and educational programs. Visitors are drawn by the opportunity to observe diverse wildlife in natural settings, experience sunrise and sunset drives, and engage with skilled guides who offer insights into animal behavior and the ecosystem.
